This picture was taken in the front of White's Clothing Store. This was part of group of stores owned by Victor White.
Frank Haman owned one of two grocery stores in Wawa. This is an earlier picture of Haman's Groceteria. Also, you will see the Diamond Cab office which was owned and operated by Dan Biluk. On the right side of the picture is the Lakeview Hotel, owned by the Perkovich family.
This picture shows the expanded store in the early 1960's after he joined the Red & White Food Chain. The store and building no longer exists.
This picture , taken in 1960, shows the second location of Hicks' Drug Store. Next to the Drug Store is Joe Dawyd's barber shop.
This picture shows the third and final location of Hick's Drug Store.
The Hick's Drug Store became Fenlon's Gaurdian Drug Store.
Taken August 2001, this picture shows the former Hicks Drug Store was now a Sears Catalogue Outlet.
The Hudson's Bay Company opened the first Chain store in Wawa.
The "BAY" became part of the Northern Store chain.
The laundromat was built by the Perkovich family and was being operated by them at the time this picture was taken in 1961.
This picture taken August 2001 shows that the Laundromat was converted to a business office.
This picture was taken in 1961. The Roxy was built in 1953 by the Erechook family. The first movie shown was the "Africa Queen" with Humphrey Bogart and Catherine Hepburn. Just to the right of the theatre, you can see part of the Canadian Legion Hall before it was expanded.
This picture was taken August 2001. The Roxy Theatre was converted to the Roxy Bowling Lanes.
This is a picture of Spreng's Hardware Store. It appears like the store was undergoing an expansion. The store is now a Home Hardware outlet and still remains in the Spreng family.
This pictures show workers installing the sidewalk in front of the West & Co., Mens Wear. The business was owned by Howard West, who was also the Volunteer Fire Chief for a number of years. The house on the right belonged to the Ciznoski family. These two buildings no longer exist, and have been replaced with a Canadain Tire Store.

This was the first location in Wawa for Dockeray's Bakery. Situated at the corner of Mackey St and First Avenue, the building became an Apartment building. The bakery moved to a building on the north east corner of Gold Street and Broadway. The second location is now a vacant lot.

This an view of the north-east corner of the hotel. The door on the north wall was the entrance to Hicks Drug Store. This was his first of three locations.

Taken in 1949, this a photo shows Louie Mudge's Garage located on the corner Algoma Street and Broadway Avenue. Mudge was the local distributer of B-A Oil and Gasoline products as well being a General Motors Car Sales. The building no longer exists.

This a photo of Spreng's Hardware Store on the north-east corner of Ganley Street and Broadway Avenue. The date of this photo is thought to be 1950 or 1951. The store still exists today in the same location and is now a Home Hardware outlet and is still operated by the Spreng family.
