This view was what greeted visitors coming from the west on the Trans Canada Highway. This picture was taken opposite the Shell Gas Station on Highway 17 in 1963. The area in the foreground was a gravel pit for supplying fill for the construction of the highway. The pit was subsequently used as location for a Drive-in Theatre and then it was a trailer park for a while. This area is now completely grown over.

This composite picture was taken August 1997, with the sinter plant in its final form. The building in the left of the picture is the "Screening Plant, in the middle is the Sinter plant and to the left is the portal for the conveyor belt that came up from under ground. On the extreme right of the picture is the ACR train station.

This composite picture taken in August 2000, illustrates the changes after all operations were shut down in 1998. Virtually all signs, that the sinter plant and the railway existed, were removed.
